After torrential rains on Saturday, Sunday the Sun decides to make an appearance. It's still cool but it's not raining. See ! It doesn't rain all the time . . .
Sunday is a non-riding day. We decide to have brunch somewhere then we head over to Lynn Canyon. I like the moss and the sunlight streaming through the trees
There are a lot of people walking about and the parking lots were overflowing
They construct boardwalks over sensitive areas . We are on the opposite side of they Canyon. To get here we had to walk over a Suspension Bridge
It "swings" a lot when people are shuffling over it so it is secured with tethers. There have been many deaths from people not observing the danger signs and fall over the cliff
There are three waterfalls in this park which is crisscrossed with trails . On a good day you have to be patient to grab a shot with few people
We have two suspension bridges in North Vancouver but this is the one where the locals come, as the other has an admission charge. This Canyon is also more rugged and picturesque.
Here's Mrs Skoot heading back to the other side. Better go now or else she'll leave me behind . . .
Hope you managed to enjoy the outdoors too
Nice photo, the close up of the cable.

DeleteThank you. You must be getting excited, only about a month left to go before you take off . . .
Safe travels
Bob we were there last August, Susan, Lauren, Andrew and Anuschka. What a wonderful place. Thanks for taking me back there.
ReplyDeleteDavid:
DeleteThe other one is a bit boring and we don't like to pay admission. If you go farther up the road you can hike in wilderness (Lynn Headwaters Regional Park). You sure get around during your compressed time schedule
Pretty pictures Bob.
ReplyDeleteThe forests of the west coast are always so nice. When it isn't raining we are spoiled to live close to them. But I guess they need the rain to be so lush.

DeleteForests are also cool during the heat of summer. I like to take the trail down to river level and just walk around on the rocks. It's not even that bad during rain as most of the leaves block the rain from hitting you. Must be damp with all that moss there
You gotta love forests!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics Bob, I cant even pick a favourite.
Where I'm living now there are a few scattered forests but they aren't rain forests, they are dry and ready to catch fire with the slightest encouragement. When I was on the coast I lived so close to forests they were literally my back yard (a lot of the places I played as a child are either gone or greatly reduced for houses but some of the ones I played in as an adult are protected so still there yay) I'll always have a love for forests and tress, they bring such sweet feelings of nostalgia.

DeleteMost of our forests look like this. Our rainy season starts around October and goes until May or June so we get lots of water. This was in North Vancouver which is at the base of our local mountains
Your terrain is different and it doesn't help with your lack of water and brown fields
What a beautiful place to walk and enjoy the sunshine.
ReplyDeleteKaren:
DeleteYou have a great lake and I have seen water during your long walks. It's just different scenery, what you are used to seeing.
Maybe one day I will get to see your favourite trails
I love the pictures showing the cables. It looks like a great place for a walk.
ReplyDeleteRichard:
DeleteI was trying for a closeup of the cable with the background "out of focus". I like to go down to the river when it is hot, but then there are too many people doing the same thing. There are lots of trails, you would like it
10 years ago I used to take a client dog walking on those trails before they were fixed up. I know it's better for most folks now but I always thought the much more rugged trails were way more fun. Course I was younger then too.
ReplyDeleteDavid:
DeleteNot all the trails are improved. You have to be careful and look out for the tree roots. Often the ground is not level and you can twist your ankle. When you get older you don't want rugged
Love the photos bob. I love forest walks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing them.
Steve:
DeleteI love forests too. It's so peaceful being surrounded by nature and to be alone in your own thoughts. It's better to have a few people around who can run slower than yourself as there are bears there . . .
Whatever the temps were, looks and feels lush and warm. Thanks Bob!
ReplyDeleteCoop:
DeleteLooks can be deceiving. It was chilly not many degrees above freezing as you don't get any heat from the sun this time of year. The photos displayed brighter than what it really was
It was a gorgeous day on Sunday! I went for a ride with a couple of friends and I was toasty warm and it was good just to feel the sunshine on my face. Love your pictures Bob. I have been to Lynn Canyon when I was a kid and I have to say I DID NOT LIKE the suspension bridge. Its definitely pretty through there. I think spring is definitely on the way all of the cherry trees on my street are starting to pop with blossoms and the temperature is noticeably warmer. Come on Spring!
ReplyDeleteDar:
Deletedon't worry, they put tethers on the suspension bridge so it doesn't swing as much as it did before.
I hope the "toasty warm" included your hands. The sunshine was good but this weekend it's forecast to be warmer AND it's daylight savings time again this weekend. SPRING AHEAD, you don't need any beauty sleep anyway
No complaints on a beautiful day like that!
ReplyDeletePeople do tend to dare themselves, don't they. Very sad.

DeleteWhen you are young, you are invincible until you make a mistake or ignore signs. You think you know better until you get older and wiser. More Spring temperatures forecast for Saturday. We are getting up to 51°F (12°c) and Sunshine. Yay !
