Group Ride in Portland, Maine

We were off to a late start after breakfast.  Today was a relaxing day to see some of the local sights

Here we are getting ready to leave.  We have 8 riders on 7 bikes.  The weather today is perfect.  The extreme heat is gone and it is a comfortable 25 C

We take some nice backroads and end up at the Portland Head Lighthouse

Here are our Hosts:  Mike and BRW  (scooter for fun)

and Thomas   (scooter by the sea)

Karen, Thomas, David, Mike, Kevin, Tina, BRW & myself

We managed to take a quick group photo

We also managed to ride to Old Orchard Beach where parking was at a premium

The Pier at Old Orchard Beach.

  1. Wow, what a crowd at the beach! Thankfully, the weather cooled off for you. It was beginning to sound pretty miserable with the heat and humidity. That's a nice group photo. Did you pack a tripod on this trip?

I took more photos looking to the right. It would be hard to find a clear spot. Parking is nearly non-existant and you even had to pay to use the washroom .50c per use, or $2.50 per day

I nearly always bring a tripod and remote control

  4. Now that is a fine looking group of people....glad that you all get to enjoy cooler, more fun temperatures. It was sounding too much like an endurance contest previously.

after being in stifling heat for nearly 2 weeks, cooler air was welcomed. The plan was always to make it to the Atlantic coast fast, and spend most of my time out here

Mike was wishing you both could be here too. The highways are crowded but hardly any traffic on these secondary roads

I have been staying up too late and I didn't realize it was affecting my riding. I wander when I ride and can hardly keep my eyes open, sometimes. It was nice to have a bit cooler temps, not nice to be sweating all the time

  9. Glad to see you're having fun! Hey are those the "NEW" "UNUSED" tourmaster pants that you purchased awhile back? Are you liking them? Hope your crocs are getting a good amount of use too!

I wore these Tourmaster Flex to Oregon last year too, but then I use my JR alter ego when in town. I am really liking these "flex" pants

  13. Some people have all the fun. Every day just a bit more envious. Relax and smell the roses (or is that Atlantic ocean air). I love lighthouses and the ambiance of the east coast.

different terrain, rocky beaches, rugged . . . not much sand on these beaches. Yes, slowing down with not many miles per day. the idea was to savour our time on the Coast and then rush back

the break in the weather only lasted until this morning. Flash flood warnings and torrential rains as we are huddled in our tents. The storm is going where we are headed so we are staying put, for now
