Challenged to find colour in a bleak season

This morning I noticed this sign

I know what it says but to me it really means "KEEP OUT,  THIS MEANS YOU".    It's like your best friend is giving a party and you're not invited.  Deep inside you are hurting but you put on a brave face and carry on

I don't have it in my heart to find colour.  There is no colour for me.  It is a depressing season which makes me sad.   The dreariness fits my mood.    I have been alone for most of my younger years so I carry on with a brave face, but inside it hurts

People inside having breakfast with friends.   I am alone

I am trying to find colour but none to be found here either

Vendors selling colourless wares at the market.   I don't know why I am here

No festivities here but I noticed this store with an inviting window

So that's it, my best effort in a Non Challenge to find colour.   Hard to be enthused when you're not welcome

  1. I'd send you some colour, but we don't have any here in Minnesota either! Hold fast spring will come bursting forth soon!

Well, white is a colour and snow makes everything bright We only have grey, clouds and rain. Can't wait for Spring but it's not yet Winter. We have another week to go before Fall is over

  2. I just watched the sun rise from my living room. It coloured the sky and the clouds with pink and orange. Days will be getting longer again soon, and riding time will get you out of brooding.

we had sun today too. What a surprise it was and quite warm at +8°c. Felt nearly like early Spring. Another week or so and the days will be getting longer

  3. Bob, no colorful indoor botanical gardens or plant conservatories? It's high time for you and Mrs Scoot to visit the Bloedel.....color, heat, bright life; all of the things that we all need to keep us going. Growing seasons and lush life will surround you.

    Do you need directions??

I love violin. thank you. The Bloedel Conservatory is just around the corner from us. We are very close to Queen Elizabeth Park. It's been a while since we had been there. We are also around the corner from Van Duesen Botanical Gardens. You seem to know your way around Vancouver

  4. I am slightly confused by this almost cryptic post Bob. I believe everyone was welcome to do the challenge as there is no way Martha would leave anyone out and it was her challenge. But at the same time you linked my post when I participated in her challenge.

Having said that, I think you did just fine finding color - that last picture has beautiful reds with those balloon/ball reindeer.

Hope things get better for you, you seem a little down.

Christmas is not my time of year and just to hear Christmas music depresses me I can't help it. It reminds me of my childhood and makes me sad. I think of all the lonely times, no family, and no one who seemed to care for me.

People who come from loving families with brothers and sisters don't know how lucky they are. I can only remember unpleasantness, arguments and fighting with no place to call home.

    2. Well it is a good thing you have Yvonne and your own family now. Time to make new memories.

And I think David and Robert have some good suggestions below too.

Smile Bob, you have friends that care for you.

thank you. Emotions from the past kick in and I can't help but to think back at unhappy times

  6. Bob smile! No kidding. It has been shown that when you're happy you smile. Oddly, if you're down, and you make a smile, it elevates your mood.

You're always welcome here. Hop on a plane, drag Yvonne along.

Here's a thought, make some bacon! Impossible to feel blue when you're eating bacon.

Or, buy a fruitcake. Fruitcake and tea! That will blow the blahs away.

I know! Go buy a hot tub. There's a nice spot for one in the back yard. Get a nice wet coasty teak one that will go nicely with the architecture of the new house. Settle into the hot tub with a glass of wine and Presto! Problem solved.

Don't make me come over there and kick your butt!

don't worry. all is well. If you haven't moved expect me back soon . . . actually even if you move, expect me soon too. Just make sure you have parking for bikes.

I notice that we also have a Cara here in Richmond. Just noticed it recently
