A train rolls by

There is a secluded beach adjacent to the US/Canada border. There are no services here, the beach is not maintained and it gives you a feeling that you are in the middle of nowhere

IMG_3373

In the background you are able to see the luxury resort of Semiahmoo in Washington state

On the Canadian side, where I am standing, there is no development and you would be lucky to find accommodations in the form of a derelict teepee

IMG_3375

even the totem pole has seen better days . There is a trail through the bushes which lead to the railway tracks

IMG_3376

There is an embankment on the other side of the track which lead down these rusted out metal stairs

IMG_3381

to reveal a nearly deserted beach, unlike its cousin to the north over in White Rock where parking spaces are non-existant on a sunny day even if you have the coins required to feed the meter. On this side of the slough, there are no meters.

IMG_3383

Low tide reveals an expansive beach of sand, which could go out for a mile . I am standing about a block or so from the shore and can barely see the famous pier at White Rock to the North

IMG_3384

Viewing south you are able to see the Peace Arch Border Crossing at the south end of this beach

IMG_3385

We hear some engine sounds, whistles and then the ground starts to tremble

IMG_3389

and we are soon rewarded with the sight of an Burlington Northern locomotive pulling a long convoy of railcars

I wanted to stand closer but the engineer kept tooting his whistle until I backed away. I wanted to take this photo for Jack r, who loves train porn

IMG_3390

I didn't have a chance to count the cars but I would have lost count anyway as I only have 21 extremities, but it was a long train with another set of double engines at the rear.

with the train safely out of the equation, here is my version of Planking

Here is a closer view of the border crossing

It was a most excellent day, and we nearly had the beach to ourselves

  2. Dear Bobskoot:

Please feel free to return to this site again and again. I have a model of this locomotive in my basement, and the ditch lights (the two headlights down low upfront) alternately flash when the locomotive's horn sounds.

I think this beach was somewhat charming. I would have offered to carry that one woman's shoes.

I guess the train was moving slowly? There are tracks about 60 iles from here where the locomotives thunder by at 50 miles per hour.

    Thanks for thinking of me.

  3. I would prefer the northern beach, I'm sure unless... no, there are no topless beaches in the US. I would prefer the northern beach.

  4. nude beaches where you can watch men having sex there are in the US. I know exactly where, grasshopper.
This beach looks like where they film Psych and pretend it's Santa Barbara. It must be weird to have a beach and no sunshine.

  5. Correction: 23 extremities. Or I would hope so, at least. ;)

    Please not planking!!

Wonderful looking beach. Is there much in the way of shelling?

    Jeez I miss the ocean!

This engine was not as romantic as your Puffer, with the clouds of steam

    Jack r:

This train goes through a populated beach at White Rock, so it has to go slow. There have been fatalities in the past. We were lucky to see this train as we do not know their schedules . We are trained like Pavlov. See train, think Jack

    Brady:

We have a clothing optional beach here called Wreck Beach. It is considered to be in the top ten of its type, and was featured on a TV special a while ago. There are a couple of other NON OFFICIAL clothing-optional beaches around here but I will keep it a secret for now. You will never recognize me without my Pink Crocs

    Mr Conchscooter:

we do have sunshine, sometimes. The warmth is one month behind, wish summeer would arrive soon. it's getting depressing, but better than Mother Nature's recent catastrophies in the mid-west and SE USA

    Steel Cupcake:

There were lots of air bubbles which indicate clamming. It was nice to have such an expanse of sandy area devoid of people.

I'm still trying to figure out the 23, or perhaps females would have 22 ?

  7. Nice beach. Solitude is getting harder to find.

A monopod would make 22 extremities. I don't know about the 23rd, either. I've seen you in person and you definitely do not have a protuding nose.

  9. Locomotive air horn technicians have put together kits for everyone from
those looking for earth shaking tones to those looking to just be heard a little more than your stock car horns. Nathan train horns for motorcycles are some of the best sellers we’ve got, but our train horn kits come in all shapes
