Saturday morning I had to brush off my windows before heading for breakfast
Just a skiff of snow, not much but we had a weather snow warning. Later in the day it started to snow, lightly at first, continued all night, and by the next morning it was still snowing.
Our AWD has regular tires and my FWD has snow tires
There is NO traction on wet, slushy snow so we stayed put at home all day
It's not a lot of snow as compared to WI Here and Here too.
to get white snow in your photos you need to add + 1.00 /+1-1/3 EV exposure compensation to your settings, or go to scene modes and select "Snow" mode. Otherwise your snow would look grey
Awesomeness+ courtesy of Google+
The following photo was captured in full sRGB colour mode and converted to monochrome. It was set +1.00 EV and then shot bracked +/- 2.EV ie: 3 shots RAW and converted to HDR, and altered the levels curve and tweeked the contrast a bit to bring out the texture in the snow
B&W monochrome HDR "Our Street"
I remember snow like that in the mountains of Southern California. Not enough for good skiing, plus it was wet and heavy. Enjoy!

DeleteTurns out that the roads are all okay, except on our sidestreets. Two miles away they have no snow, but we are in the highest area of Vancouver and we get snow when other areas don't
Ah Snow ... You too eh?
ReplyDeleteKaren:
DeleteYep ! We got snow, not much but the wet slushy kind with slippage traction. It was supposed to rain earlier today and wash away, but it didn't
That looks wet and heavy! Coop and I will quietly chuckle to our selves at your snow... So Bob, how many days will it take for it to melt and go away?
ReplyDeleteErik:
DeleteI can't believe how much snow you get and every year too. Today it is still snowing and should turn to rain by tomorrow. Once it starts to melt it will be gone in a couple of days.
We usually get wet snow, heavy, slippery and not much traction. Also heavy to shovel
All snow looks nasty to me. I got those snowflakes from google plus and Cheyenne looked absurd getting snowed on in Key West. I dumped google plus after that. bloody cheek "improving" my pictures. You are more tolerant I guess.
ReplyDeleteMr Conchscooter:
DeleteHard for me to dump Google as I am also using Picassa for my photo host. I lost all of my Webshots when they shut down so I am keeping mainstream
Our snow doesn't seem that bad when you consider what is happening in the East
Aww it's looks so fluffy .. I want some!!!
ReplyDeleteBrenda:
DeleteI am guessing that you don't get snow where you are ? so that might be a novelty to build a snowman or throw a few snow balls, or have to dig your car out and scrape your windshields.
We don't get much snow here but it goes in cycles. So far our winter hasn't been that bad
I saw the weather reports and wondered how you were faring. Hope it doesn't snarl your morning commute. Maybe you will get a snow day like we did.
ReplyDeleteTrobairitz:
DeleteI was also wondering how it was where you are too. Our snow hasn't stopped yet. It's supposed to turn to rain later today and then start melting away. We always get more snow as we are higher. Not much snow only a couple of miles away. The commute was no problem with bare roads
We seldom get snow days up here
Snow! Yukko!

DeleteYou were lucky to have a great day scooting around, on your new Buddy. (Piglet). It's nearly March, Spring is just around the corner
We had 1/4 inch this morning again and temps around 12 degrees. I guess the robins are wondering what the heck is going on!
DeleteGone for the next week is any prospect of a balmy scooter ride in the sunshine! LOL
Deb:
Deleteat least you managed to squeeze in one day of riding on a beautiful day. Spring must be just around the corner
Oh my, a snowflake in Vancouver equal airport chaos, traffic jams, lots of accidents because people can't drive under slippery conditions or lack the right set of tires, sky trains and buses delayed or canceled… or in short: madness.
ReplyDeleteSonja:
Deletewe live on high ground. Just a mere couple of miles away they have much less and the roads are down to pavement. Where we are we just have wheel tracks with many inches of snow.
It wasn't too bad on the morning commute, BUT it has been snowing all day. I have full snow tires on all 4 wheels. Most here only use all season tires . . .
We got hit as well, it's still here and it's cold. I am done with this winter stuff.
ReplyDeleteDar
Deletethis morning the roads were a bit icy but by the time I got home there was lots of bare pavement. Tomorrow morning more ice/frost
It's going down to freezing again by the weekend
Clever pics Bob,

Deletethank you. Just a few snaps taken outside. It took 15-20 minutes this morning to break all the ice and dig my car out.
