It's the first weekend of a new season. Spring is finally here, not like (click here)
Five Sails, Vancouver, BC
It was a Sunny but not so warm day but at least we don't have any snow
Canada Place, Burrard Inlet
We found parking so we decided to walk around for an hour or so
That's the new Vancouver Convention Centre on the right. Recently I have been thinking that you may wish to see what our downtown area looks like
Reflected in the windows of the Cenvention Centre, you can see Canada Place. The webbing you see draped in the air is an aerial sculpture (info here) It is more colourful at night when it is lit by LEDs but we like to get home before dark . . .
Hope you are out there enjoying Spring too
The five sails looks like the same place that David had photographed a couple of weeks ago. Vancouver still looks like a really built up area but the ocean location looks pretty nice.

DeleteYes, David was staying just across the street at the Fairmont Waterfront. This is in the high rent district, along the water. The body of water is Burrard Inlet
It was a lovely first weekend of spring. Yesterday however on the island was overcast and cold, but today was stunning!

DeleteSaturday was raining all day. I was going to go out but didn't. Sun was forecast for Sunday, a bit cool but dry. I agree, it was a stunning day
You early Springers are graciously giving some of us hope. Thanks Bob!

Deletestill dipping near zero at night but no frost the past few days. I hope we are out of it. We are approaching our rainy season but that's okay with us
Nice reflections of the aerial sculpture. Of course the sails against the blue sky are pretty too.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are having sunny weather before the Spring rain returns.

DeleteWe were out looking for photos on Sunday. We seldom come downtown anymore, mainly due to lack of "free" parking. It was a great day. We went around Stanley Park and generally just drove around town. Rains start on Tuesday and everyday from then on . . .
Hi Bob,
ReplyDeleteYou've hit the riding season mate....not sure if it's ready for your shorts/t-shirt/ flip-flops yet;)
Love the link to poor David's snow-post;)
It made me laugh ... Should it have made me laugh ;)
Great stuff mate
Regards LEN

DeleteWon't be long now before the heat starts (we hope), then it'll be shorts and T-shirt weather. Can't believe the snow they are getting in the East
Bob I can't believe you weren't out tip-toeing around in your bare feet, regardless of the temp ... you don't have snow. Thanks for a glimpse of your down town.
ReplyDeleteKaren:
DeleteHow would you know, or not know, if I hadn't already been walking around during our last snow storm. Soon it will be T-shirts and shorts weather.
I had been meaning to go downtown for a while and snap some of the sights for you to see
"Hope you are out there enjoying Spring too" I will when it gets here in a month or two...
ReplyDeleteLast year, on fishing season opener weekend, all the lakes were still frozen. This winter's been colder and snowier so who knows when things will melt.
Enjoy your Spring!!

DeleteI hope you get your good weather soon. You've had enough snow and cold. Makes you appreciate the good weather when it eventually arrives . . . and it will arrive
Oh, Bob. This is how I love Vancouver the most. Missing it dearly. Please continue to post downtown pictures every once in a while.

DeleteThese were only a few photos of our waterfront area. I was intending to take a bus downtown one day and just walk around town but so far every Saturday has been busy. Last Sunday we also went around Stanley Park. I was thinking that a bicycle would be better but first I have to get the motor in better shape. It needs more than just a tune up
I was just down to the Convention Centre to go to the auto show and I must admit that pretty much the coolest thing I saw wasn't a car but a bike; a Honda CB500X. The guy was sure keen to sign me up for a test ride. I was keen to sit in the new Vette. I still recall my seat time time in a Split-Window at the first car show I went to in 63. The Vette looks mega cool; but I was like a big pickle in a small jar. I wonder how they are going to sell it to fat North Americans?
