The day started with heavy rain and with the rivers of water on the road, we thought it prudent to wait out the rain in the hopes that it would simmer down. I was also thinking that I didn't ride this far to hide in my tent so I decided to just bare with it and put on my gear, and headed East in search of photos. It was nearly noon when I rolled down the highway
The following are just some of the photos I took today in North Rustico Harbour
My BMW R1200R with Lobster traps in the background
Fishing boats lined up on the dock, waiting . . .
Lobster traps with the lonely boat, at anchor
Decaying Boat shack
Local restaurant and gift shop
Looks like an original abandoned building
Interesting sign
Old Lighthouse which is still in operation
Today we move to a different location on "The Island"
Bob,
ReplyDeleteSo very, very fine. Thanks!

DeleteAtlantic Canada is a special place. you would love it here
Bob, I truly did love it there and long to go back. People I met, things we did, places I spent time.....still my favorite mix of the above.
DeleteWow! I've been itching to travel and you've taken me on one fine journey thus far!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous area!
Deb:
Deletethanks for being a faithful reader. We went to Newfoundland years ago and I have always wanted to visit the other Atlantic provinces
There is a lot of history here
Love the fishing boats shot and the abandoned building especially...looks like a fun photo excursion!!!
ReplyDeleteKathryn:
Deletethanks for visiting. I did manage to spend some time here looking for "material". This is an established fishing village and the early settlers came to this area hundreds of years ago
Getting better all the time. Look forward to each unfolding day of riding as seen by your camera.

DeleteMore water than trees in this part of the Country. You would love all the photo opps, and all the old structures here. Your camera wouldn't know which direction to point
Great shots of an interesting place I've never heard of. Glad you had the time to get them.
ReplyDeleteJohn:
Deletethere is nothing like Atlantic Canada. If you get a chance, get over to Newfoundland. We went years ago and it is time to go back. I don't think there is any place like this anywhere in the USA
Those are some nice photos. I especially like the abandoned, painted brick building. It really is a beautiful area.
ReplyDeleteRichard:
Deleteas you know, in photography, it's all about texture, rotting wood and peeling paint.
You can find stuff like this easier in older established communities
Keep'em coming Bob!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious how you're dealing with camping in the rain.
David:
Deleteyou should have been here. You would have loved it
May blog about the little rain we have had. Only a day or so of torrential and spitting
Beautiful photos Bob.
ReplyDeleteThey really do all look they they were postcards. Great job.

Deleteto tell you the truth I wanted less words and let the photos speak a thousand words. I "BORROWED" that phrase from Chuck Pefley
Hard to go wrong with any photo taken there in North Rustico
Great pics! Looks like a bit of a cooler day. Glad you didn't stay stuck in the tent!
ReplyDeleteAndrew:
DeleteEven though cooler temps, still humid and sweaty if you can imagine. Not so bad being stuck in a tent, I'm getting to like it
I was fortunate to visit Newfoundland back in May and loved the place. Bob's report and pics reinforces my desire to visit that whole Atlantic Canada region and explore it in more detail.
ReplyDeleteDoug:
DeleteI also loved NF but I had to see what was in those other Atlantic provinces. Won't have time for NS or much of NB this trip. Will have to fly back and rent a car
I just love the Maritimes. Thanks, Bob for the memories. I am very fond of the Atlantic ocean even though it comes with a lot of moist air. I miss the ocean already... any would do...

Deleteeveryone I have met are so friendly. This side of the Country is so different in it's feel and landscape if you know what I mean. Thia Island is larger than you think
Beautiful photos. Good capture of the look and feel of the place.
ReplyDeleteWould you mind if I use your pic of the lobster boats on a site I'm building?
