Postcards from: North Rustico, Prince Edward Island

The day started with heavy rain and with the rivers of water on the road, we thought it prudent to wait out the rain in the hopes that it would simmer down.  I was also thinking that I didn't ride this far to hide in my tent so I decided to just bare with it and put on my gear, and headed East in search of photos.   It was nearly noon when I rolled down the highway

The following are just some of the photos I took today in North Rustico Harbour

My BMW R1200R with Lobster traps in the background

Fishing boats lined up on the dock, waiting . . .

Lobster traps with the lonely boat, at anchor

    Decaying Boat shack

   Local restaurant and gift shop

Looks like an original abandoned building

    Interesting sign

Old Lighthouse which is still in operation

Today we move to a different location on "The Island"

    2. Bob, I truly did love it there and long to go back. People I met, things we did, places I spent time.....still my favorite mix of the above.

thanks for being a faithful reader. We went to Newfoundland years ago and I have always wanted to visit the other Atlantic provinces

There is a lot of history here

thanks for visiting. I did manage to spend some time here looking for "material". This is an established fishing village and the early settlers came to this area hundreds of years ago

More water than trees in this part of the Country. You would love all the photo opps, and all the old structures here. Your camera wouldn't know which direction to point

there is nothing like Atlantic Canada. If you get a chance, get over to Newfoundland. We went years ago and it is time to go back. I don't think there is any place like this anywhere in the USA

as you know, in photography, it's all about texture, rotting wood and peeling paint.

You can find stuff like this easier in older established communities

  7. Keep'em coming Bob!

I'm curious how you're dealing with camping in the rain.

to tell you the truth I wanted less words and let the photos speak a thousand words. I "BORROWED" that phrase from Chuck Pefley

Hard to go wrong with any photo taken there in North Rustico

Even though cooler temps, still humid and sweaty if you can imagine. Not so bad being stuck in a tent, I'm getting to like it

  10. I was fortunate to visit Newfoundland back in May and loved the place. Bob's report and pics reinforces my desire to visit that whole Atlantic Canada region and explore it in more detail.

I also loved NF but I had to see what was in those other Atlantic provinces. Won't have time for NS or much of NB this trip. Will have to fly back and rent a car

  11. I just love the Maritimes. Thanks, Bob for the memories. I am very fond of the Atlantic ocean even though it comes with a lot of moist air. I miss the ocean already... any would do...
